Prelude
Hello everybody, how is it going? Time really past fast and it's time a again for another Share Your Battle. This week, while the recommended card for sharing is Nerissa Tridawn, I would instead like to share on another magic card Suidae Shaman from the Riftwatchers set as I had shared on Nerissa Tridawn recently. This card saved me a few times during brawl against the likes of Quora, hence I would like to do a sharing based on this.

Thoughts on Suidae Shaman

From the picture, this wolf shaman looks burly and I believe it can do decent damage.

Without further a do, let's get started with this week's sharing.
Let's look at the Level 1 base stats for Suidae Shaman:

ManaAttackHealthSpeedArmourAbility

Bronze League - Health + 1
Silver League - Speed +1, Giant Killer
Gold League - Health +1, Attack + 1
Beyond Gold - Health + 1, Rust

What does Suidae Shaman looking on growth?

As this card level up, it slowly gains health, 1 more attack and then giant killer/rust.

The thing about this card is the recharge ability. Recharge causes a card to miss a turn to charge up and then unleash a 3x attack the next turn. At level 1, without any buff, 2 damage becomes 6 damage on alternate turns. 6 magic damage against anything that does not have void or void armour is painful.

When Shaman gain Giant Killer ability, this same 6 damage gets multiplied by 2 to a whopping 12 damage. And once it gets Rust ability, it helps the team further to reduce armour for melee/range cards or even reduce void armour as well.

Alritey, let's see start the battle sharing.

Opponent Lineup

  • Summoner - Kelya Frendul
  • Position 1 - Djinn Oshannus
  • Position 2 - Gargoya Devil
  • Position 3 - Giant Squid
  • Position 4 - Venari Wavesmith
  • Position 5 - Merdaali Guardian
  • Position 6 - Kulu Swimhunter

Prediction before pressing rumble
My opponent decided to use a more range based lineup. But that Oshannus gonna be a pain if I don't bring it down.

Let's get ready to rumble

Round 1, It was a fight between the two tanks. The enraged Oshannus increased speed by so much that any range attack from Hunter Jarx will be in vain. No casualties with both tanks at 6 health each.

Round 2, Because my cards were of slower speed, Slipspawn fell to the barrage of attacks. But something significant took place, Suidae Shaman actually smashed a whopping 4 damage onto Oshannus which had Void and allowing Goblin Psychic to take Oshannus down.

Round 3, Queen Mycelia fell, no more armour buff, Gargoya Devil fell too. Suidae Shaman recharging.

Round 4, Barrage continues with Suidae Shaman knocking out Giant Squid and Goblin Psychic knocking out Venari Wavesmith.

Round 5-6, Cycle repeat, Goblin Psychic took out Merdaali while Shaman took out the other eight legged monster. Victory secured.

After Thoughts

Long range match between range and magic. I always find that whenever Earth Splinter faces Oshannus, the full capability cannot be unleashed even with Obsidian as the void makes my magic attack look like a mere scratch and the presence of a healer on my opponent's lineup makes it even harder because Water Splinter cards tend to have higher speed and strike first, not forgetting extra buff from Kelya. So in order to secure victory, we need a Oshannus buster! And it now it came in the form of Suidae Shaman.

Did my strategy work in this game? I am glad that I have chose to include Suidae Shaman in my lineup. Somehow it become my solution against Oshannus and subsequently helped take out other cards in my opponent's lineup.

Will I be using such a lineup in the future? After seeing how Suidae Shaman do in brawl and also in the above match, I will do so especially when mana allows.

Recharge
Would like to mention a little on this particular ability and cards that possess this ability.

Screenshot 2023-01-30 at 2.13.57 AM.png

All of the cards shown above have recharge at level 1 and only Water Splinter does not have a card with this ability.

To me, recharge is actually a rather good skill to have and is really good in taking out beefy tanks that stall time for backline to do damage. While cards that are on recharge effectively sit out every alternate round, what is key is that the 3x damage will be key to take out any problematic tanks which is needed. Uriel is a special case because it will have to be fronting the lineup, but thankfully, it is beefy enough to take damage and have in built healing before unleashing a devastating 9 damage melee attack. The remaining cards are either magic or range cards, so do note that they need some protection else before they can release their damage, they could have been taken out. If you have difficulty with cards like Cornelius, Kron or even Quora during brawl, these cards with recharge are critical for you to shave off significant amount of health from those dreaded cards whom keep heal and heal.

So Suidae Shaman alongside the other recharge cards are good considerations to add to your lineup. I personally would want to obtain more copies of it and level it up. But first, I need to level up my Obsidian so as to be able to use a higher level Suidae Shaman. If you are uncertain, you can give it a try and rent to experience this tank buster.
