Hello! This is another one of my guitar customizations, this time it's my old 1989 Squier MIK. It used to be Torino Red, but I thought it was a bit boring and bland, so I decided to change that.
Hola! Esta es otra de mis customizaciones, esta vez se trata de mi vieja Squier MIK 1989. Sol铆a ser Rojo Torino, pero a mi parecer era un poco aburrido e ins铆pido, as铆 que decid铆 cambiar eso.
It had already been modified with a set of Dimarzio Virtual Vintage pickups, CTS pots, Fender selector and Switchcraft jack... By the way, this neck is the best of all Fender I've had and I've had a few, well we continue... The first thing I did was sand the original finish until all the shine is removed and with wood putty I remove all the bumps and marks the body had in its 33 years of use and once the putty dried I sanded again so that everything would be uniform.
Ya ella hab铆a sido modificada con un set de pastillas Dimarzio Virtual Vintage, potenci贸metros CTS, selector fender y jack Switchcraft... Por cierto, este m谩stil es el mejor de todas las Fender que he tenido y he tenido unas cuantas, bueno seguimos... Lo primero que hice entonces fue lijar el color original hasta quitar todo el brillo y con masilla para madera eliminar todos los golpes y marcas que ten铆a el cuerpo en sus 33 a帽os de ruedo y una vez que se sec贸 la masilla volv铆 a lijar para q todo quedara uniforme.
Thinking about what color I was going to give it, it occurred to me to make a white over red, relic, so I painted in snow white and with a blade I scratched the area where I wanted to resemble natural wear and sanded it to give it more realism.
Pensando en que color iba a darle, se me ocurri贸 hacerle un relic blanco sobre rojo, as铆 que pint茅 de blanco nieve y con una hojilla rasp茅 las zonas donde quer铆a semejar el desgaste natural por uso y lo lij茅 para darle m谩s realismo.
After thoroughly cleaning the entire surface, I put on a glossy clear coat and sanded again (this is more sanding than anything else). Once it was dry (a couple of days) I polished it with car wax.
Despu茅s de limpiar bien toda la superficie, le puse transparente brillante y otra vez a lijar (esto es mas lijar que cualquier otra cosa). Ya una vez que sec贸 (un par de d铆as) la pul铆 con cera de carro.
The original pickguard was white 3-ply, it seemed boring to leave the original, so I bought a vintage tortoise one, I also changed Dimarzio set it had for a Fender Custom Shop 69 set handmade by Aby Ybarra and a Fender vintage tremolo, and this was the final result, a completely different guitar but with the same soul.
El pickguard original era blanco de 3 capas, me pareci贸 aburrido dejar el original, as铆 que compr茅 uno vintage tortoise, tambi茅n cambi茅 los Dimarzio que tenia por un set Fender Custom Shop 69 hecho a mano por Aby Ybarra y un tremolo Fender vintage, y este fue el resultado final, una guitarra completamente diferente pero con la misma alma.
