The idea of taking a student loan might sound like a breakthrough, but it can also leave a person to struggle for years. While it gives you the opportunity to pursue education, achieve academic dreams and graduate, it can also leave you struggling after acquiring the education, especially when a job isn't fast coming, and you begin to question the essence of studying. The scariest part is that the debt keeps accumulating, it goes beyond the original amount that was borrowed and keeps getting higher until the person is capable of paying. The government increasing taxes for citizens to settle loans they have no connection to doesn't make sense to me, I won't accept that because anyone who took a loan should be ready to pay up their debt without involving other innocent citizens.

I understand the importance of education to a person and the society at large. Through education, people build better lives, It makes a huge contribution to our society through employment, entrepreneurship, innovation, and many productive activities. Regardless of its benefits, it also has its own uncertainties, as a young graduate paying back a loan can be really inconveniencing , it could cause serious delays, in a country like mine, paying back a loan after graduating will cause serious pressure, because a job after education isn't even guaranteed, it's likely to cause damage if the person doesn't get support.

It could cause delays in many milestones, like buying a house, even starting a family , getting married and starting a family, you are likely to work for a decade before clearing up the debt and life after school is really tough. I wouldn't even advise anyone to take a student loan in my country and won't support the government taking higher taxes from others who didn't benefit from the loan through increased taxes.

Transferring loans to taxpayers who never benefited from the loan is absolutely unacceptable, already they pay huge amounts of taxes. Adding more amounts for the purpose of clearing a debt they have no connection with is really unacceptable, most taxpayers have never attended university or are even interested in taking a student loan. Therefore, getting them involved in paying back doesn't make sense, they have their own problems.

Let's also consider those who have worked for years clearing their own student loan or any other loan, telling them to clear the loan they didn't benefit seems unfair to me. Increasing their tax to clear other people's loans isn't acceptable and sounds really unfair to me.

Also, why will taxpayers pay for education that's really expensive? In my country, university education is really expensive, it's now a privilege for only those that can afford it, and even when citizens protest, they don't fix it. There are various reasons why I can never agree to such a policy. The rising cost of education should be first addressed, and even after that I wouldn't agree to pay a loan I didn't benefit from through my tax .

I'm not suggesting that the borrowers should be abandoned and not considered, but that's a full responsibility of the government, the government can make it easier for them to clear the debt, the government could reduce interest and create a very affordable repayment plan for students, especially considering that they have other things to accomplish after graduating and the government should also make education affordable, so students don't have to seek for loan to further their education , the weight of carrying a debt isn't an easy one

Education should be an opportunity, and not a financial trap, and the issues of student loans can't be solved by moving the burden to others. The government should provide relief for those who need loans to further their education and also work on the cost of education so it could be very easy to gain education, education shouldn't be a financial trap, but an opportunity for those interested.

My answer is NO, I won't support higher taxes to clear the debt of students. Thank you.
