Asters are flowers about school
Since my childhood, I remembered asters as "school" flowers. After all, every year, when we were going to start a new school year, on September 1 we walked together to school. After three months of vacation, which everyone spent differently, I really wanted to dive into the whirlwind of school life again. To see your friends, acquaintances, teachers and even cleaners who have already become family.
Of course, every student went to school on September 1 with a bouquet of flowers. For teachers. And I was always sad about only one thing: where will those poor teachers take the huge number of flowers given by the students? In a big city, perhaps this wealth could be given away or even sold. But our town is small, and every yard is full of flowers. Also, buckets and basins with our September 1st bouquets often stood in classrooms and offices for a long time. For mood, beauty and aroma.
It was aster that was most often brought to this holiday. And my associations with the school are very appropriate here. Especially when I see purple flowers like school ink. In ancient times, first-graders used ink for writing. There were such pens into which a pen is inserted. And an inkwell to dip that pen in and learn calligraphy. From the first grade.
Oh, and there were all kinds of adventures with those inkwells! It will turn over in the briefcase and flow into notebooks and textbooks. It will fall from the desk in class and smear the whole class. And I also really liked when some of my classmates carried this inkwell in a special pouch, separate from the briefcase. Such bags were able to be knitted by mothers who were needlewomen. And it was very beautiful and convenient, and it did not promise any adventures.
The appearance of ballpoint pens did not soon replace their usual pens and inkwells for schoolchildren. Ball first graders were not allowed to write. Scientists of those times assured that a ballpoint pen would not be able to form a child's correct handwriting. Although after several years this theorem failed. Probably, due to the fact that it is impossible to use a stone hammer after the iron one was invented by mankind. 🤓
These are my asters. Multicolored, delicate, strong flowers that are not afraid of cold weather. But also, with their blossoming, every year they immerse me in pleasant nostalgic memories.
