Exploring further into the forest, I encountered a boss named Guangmou who used powerful spells. Unprepared for his teleportation and magical attacks, I was quickly defeated. After respawning at the Snake Trail shrine, I sprinted back into the arena for a rematch, but Guangmou bested me once more.
Well, I guessed there was more of this forest to explore, so I decided to check around. I soon reached another clearing where I met a big man named Guangmou.
He asked me to pass a message to his master, mentioning that searching for deity mortars to aspire, craving immortality, Yaoguai surely will conspire.
It looked like he was a boss, meaning I was suddenly thrust into a boss fight. I wasn't really prepared for it, especially since the way he spoke at first made me think he might actually be a friend.
I moved closer and used my Immobilize ability to strike him right as he was about to attack me with a spell. This boss had a demonic face and clearly knew his magic.
Of course, I knew a few spells myself, I even made a clone copy of myself, though I mostly did that to dodge his incoming attacks.
Despite my efforts, the boss took me down in the end. As I collapsed, he mentioned that all is in vain and told me to save my own effort.
After being sent back to the Keeper's Shrine at Snake Trail, it was time to pay him another visit. On my way back, I didn't give the first monster a single chance to attack me, taking zero damage in the process.
I took down the skeletons easily as well, proving I was getting much better at fighting them. I wondered if I should fight the monsters on the other side as well, but ultimately decided against it.
Instead, I rushed straight to the boss, ignoring all those enemies behind so I could save some time.
While sprinting toward the arena, I noticed the devil statue again, something I had somehow missed the previous time.
Guangmou was waiting for me, but the moment I attacked him, he teleported to the other side of the arena. When he prepared to attack me again, I stunned him using my Immobilize ability.
After dealing some damage and taking a few hits in return, I backed off and took a sip from my gourd to regenerate my health.
The fight was all about dodging this boss's attacks perfectly. However, he took me down like I was nothing to him. It really felt like I should save my own effort, just like he had suggested earlier.
