As if crawled into a corner
Many a German castle lies broken
And there are still some under one roof
Winding in the forest, brook on the rock.
Here a lost one mourns,
Grained to the deepest loneliness
Old knight castle. How tall and thick
Its walls defy fate,
As if a hostile mind
There whether wild deeds brood,
As if a philistine novel
There opened its scene!
