What is GlobCoin?
Globcoin is a digital coin that marries the best aspects of current cryptocurrencies with the best aspects of fiat currencies.
The value of the coin (GLX) is linked to a basket of fiat currencies of the 15 largest world economies and 5$ Gold.
It’s value reflects the world economy including its new components and trends such as the booming economies of countries like China or India, while maintaining a good balance of the currencies of Western economies.
Launched in 2013 by a team based in Switzerland and the UK, the product under the brand GRC “Global Reserve Currency” has been already offered to large corporations and high net worth indivuduals.

Globcoin Crypto Platform is dedicated to provide an infrastructure to build baskets of currencies which correspond to specific communities/users needs . This Platform will be used to launch currency baskets. Up until now, this was reserved only for large clients due to the huge fees and structure of foreign exchange markets. Thanks to Blockchain Technology, it is now possible to offer this to the public. The decentralization enables everyone to access what was reserved to a few privileged market participants.

3 Problems in Real World

With the growing trend of Central Banks to build up currency baskets and/or to peg the national currency to a basket usually not disclosed to the public (China, Singapore,etc), currency baskets can provide the appropriate solution for a variety of needs. Currency Baskets encompass broad investment themes and can be used to express multi-currency views on a tactical, thematic or strategic basis. The Platform intends to provide flexibility to investors and allows them to express a view on a country or a group of currencies, or to hedge against the weakening of others.

Even if the benefits of currency baskets seem obvious, their use is restricted by several barriers.

1. The barrier of size: the wholesale foreign exchange market only trade in large amounts
2. The barrier of price: only experienced currency managers will get liquidity and good pricing for buying and selling the currency pairs needed in any basket
3. The barrier of infrastructure: Buying and selling individual currency pairs, with the less liquid ones being quoted by a very limited number of counterparts, requires a dedicated infrastructure and experienced team

Solution
This is why our Group which has been at the forefront of innovation in currency management has been proposing to its large clients (institutionals and family offices) to set up currency basket dedicated to their own needs run by us.

The first basket that will be launched on the platform will be our “flagship“ GLOBCOIN, a basket based on 15 largest currencies of the world and 5% of Gold. By construction, this stable and asset-backed basket corresponds to the needs of many users. It will be an ideal complement for cryptocurrencies holders looking for a stable crypto portfolio. We have been trading this basket for our large clients on the traditional foreign exchange market.

Thought intensive studies, especially for specific clients in Asia, Africa and Western Europe, our platform will be able to launch dedicated tradable baskets to meet the needs of the clients. Globcoin Crypto Platform

   Used by Central Banks, very few people would have access to the network necessary to construct such an offering themselves. No retail bank or broker currently offers such a basket.

3. STABILITY
   The first basket to be launched, corresponding to the World Reserve Currency (which we call GLX), will enable its holders to tactically switch to the most stable instrument, proven historically to be even more stable than the Swiss Franc.

   This system allows Globcoin to create bespoke baskets for different markets.
