The Setup
On the whole I found that setting up tournaments worked really well. I am sure that there are features that users would like to see added or improved upon but on the whole I think it only took me about 5 minutes to make my first tournament.
The first setup screen was really straightforward. No complaints.
Next we go to the Entry page. I thought that having minimum power isn't really needed. The card types and DEC entry fees take care of that. However, I would really, really, really, really encourage the developers to consider a Maximum power.
Even though I tried to weed out seasoned players we still saw people with 25,000+ cards in their accounts enter. Why? I have no idea. And yes, I know that there are level limits that you can set on the very next page but that's very different than power. There has to be some way to keep people who have 15 cards in their account playing against other players that are starting out.
The Games
It was over before it began. I set up my qualifier to be single elimination and I was singularly eliminated out of the field of 9. So I can't tell you much about the gameplay other than I lost my first game.
I tried to watch other peoples fights but half of them were blank and the others had people playing against accounts that never completed their lineups. I guess that's what it means when someone 'fled the battlefield." I am pretty confident that once we were down to 4 that only humans were in attendance.
The Cost
Not sure I would say that this contest was worth the price of admission. Why does it cost 2000 DEC to host a tournament? Are we taxing the systems? Are we trying to keep the userbase low? Is the project hard up for money?
I know that I am new to this space and I haven't earned the right to complain but... There should be sit and goes on the hour every hour. There should be head to heads, best out of 5s. There should be tournaments where every one plays from the exact same deck. There should be more. Period. And in time hopefully there will be. I see nothing but opportunity but right now the cost is high and the benefit isn't there. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
The Video
Now I did put all this into my daily play session that I call, "Starting out in Splinterlands." I had to heavily edit this one. There was just too much of me looking at the screen in confusion. I have to say that I became quite flustered with daily quest as well.
Death does not become me. It is my least favorite Splinter. If anyone reading this has a heart. Can anyone spot me a Haunted Spirit, Octopider, Boogyman or Dark Enchantress or Corrupted Pegasus? @flammeushand needs some help.
