Rhodes is the principal city and a former municipality on the island of Rhodes which belongs to Greece.
It has a population of approximately 90,000 in its metropolitan area.

This has given the city and the island many different identities, cultures, architectures, and languages over its long history. Its position in major sea routes has given Rhodes a very rich history. You get a special feeling walking around in an ancient city where so many people have already lived and so many events, e.g ancient theatre, have been taken place. Nowadays you see a lot of tourist shops and restaurants in the main area but name a famous city where you won't find that. Nevertheless its something exhilarating to see, with the paving stones everywhere you go and the small streets where you walk through in order to see the famous sights. Everyone should have visited this place at least once in their lifetime.
