Hello friends it's nice to have you here again 馃槉
My last job wasn't what i had expected. After completing my youth service few months ago, i returned home from the state i was posted to. Spent few week at home and decide to look for something to keep me busy while i wait for the jobs i had applied for to come through.
I walked around and asked a few supermarkets, shops and restaurants if they had any vacancies. Luckily, a restaurant i had been to had an opening. Went for an interview for the position of a waitress and was offered the job, which happens to be a night shift in which i was okay with. Started almost immediately, working from 2pm to 10pm.
My first few days were fine, thanks to my enthusiasm and fascination with the job. I was shown how to serve and take orders from customers. However, things took a turn when i was told i will have to clean, wash tablecloths and do dishes in addition to my waitressing duties. I thought to myself " you can't be serious". This isn't what i signed up for. But then others were doing it so i joined them.
I would stand for hours, hurting my feet and when i took breaks, the manager will hurl insults at me and asked i get up and do my job. We weren't entitled to anything as workers not even water 馃槻. There were no free meals, if you need anything you buy it. Thought employees were supposed to get perks like that but i was wrong. Some Nigerian restaurants never cease to disappoint.
Despite everything i made friends and resigned after a month. I couldn't handle the manager's nasty attitude and job demands. It was an experience but not a pleasant one.
