Had a few great picture moments with a cloud inversion and a waterfall while on this hike.
Gotta love it when you hike up for an hour or so in thick fog/cloud and then up on the mountain side, you get above a low inversion layer to see above. So nice! It didn't last very long unfortunately, and we ended up getting rain for most of the day. A day in the rainy mountains is still better than inside anytime though!
What is normally dried up was filling with the rain and making some of the trails a mudhole, so route finding and changing plans was needed this day, as some of the routes we wanted were sliding and washing out.
A very sweet spot to capture a few photos from, high up above a waterfall, which we were hoping to hiking down, but with the wet, it was no where near safe enough.
Taken with my 360 cam, the cliffs stopped our expected route out at this waterfall. We'd already had a VERY long day in the rain by this point, but our route was going to be vastly expended to get home, with this waterfall zone impassable.
We tried the forest and it was a brutal tree fall area making it nearby impossible to get though. Crawling and sqeezing past fallen tree 5 layers thick is not an option when you have 10km to get through. We searched the cliff lines and after about 3 km of following some edge defying animal trails, we found that we could finally pass though some of the forest and bushwack back in the right direction.
