One of the biggest problems i see is the lack of understanding between one another. There are always these two sides to the coin and one side always feels mis understood by the other. For example the police probably feel stressed, underpaid and unvalued when a lot of them are good guys who have hugely high risk jobs are being attacked, then we have the protestors who feel they are not being seen and they are being attacked by the police. The vast majority of both sides really just want to be seen and valued. This is why when people say join us and then the police do it's so powerful as both are attempting to 'see' one another. It happens all the time in the rich/ poor debate too. The rich people feel they are constantly having to pour money into people not making any effort and then the people who hate the rich just feel they have no foundation to get started and everything is always stacked against them. Neither side is wrong or right and both could probably find common ground if they were willing to hear one another without being in attack/defence mode all the time. It really applies to pretty much all these situations over the last few years. There is a place where people can meet in the middle of the duality if they stop fighting one another and seeing only from their perspective. We should really bring back debating where you are forced to debate for the opposite side again, I think i would learn a lot from debating completely opposing opinions to the ones i have. Maybe i will set up an online one next week, would anyone join?
