These days, I honestly feel like women shouldn’t be boxed into one way of being. It’s like society still expects a woman to either be “soft and beautiful” or “strong and intimidating,” but not both at the same time. And the truth is, most real women I know are both. Sometimes soft, sometimes strong. Sometimes calm, sometimes intense. It just depends on what life throws at them, and how people treat them.
When I say “beauty and the beast,” I don’t mean it in a literal or negative way. I mean it in the sense that a woman can carry both sides within her. There is the gentle side, warm, caring, understanding, patient. The side that listens, supports, and tries to keep peace. But there is also another side, the one that shows up when she is disrespected, pushed too far, or when she needs to stand her ground. That side isn’t ugly. It’s just protection, It shows boundaries.
What people don’t always understand is that one doesn’t cancel the other out. A woman doesn’t stop being kind just because she knows how to defend herself. And she is not “mean” just because she refuses to be walked over. Both sides are part of her, and both are valid.
And people should know that what you experience from someone depends a lot on how they behave toward them, so don't tag them wrongly. If you come with respect, honesty, and good intentions, you’ll usually meet the softer, calmer side. But if you come with disrespect, manipulation, or bad energy, then of course you are going to meet the more guarded side. That’s just human nature. Everyone reacts to how they are treated.
It’s a bit unfair how women are often judged for switching between these sides, like they are supposed to stay sweet no matter what. Nobody is like that all the time. Not even the people who expect it from them. So why should women be any different?
To me, being a woman today is about balance. You don’t have to shrink yourself to make others comfortable, and you don’t have to be aggressive just to be taken seriously either. You just have to be real. Be soft when you can, strong when you need to be, and don’t apologize for either, a woman is not one thing. She is a whole person. And how she shows up depends a lot on the energy she is given.
