Hello Ladies of hive community!

Let’s talk about being a girl’s girl.
Because somehow, some people have turned the phrase into:“If she is a woman, defend her.”Even when the said woman is wrong. No!I don’t subscribe to that.

Being a girl’s girl doesn't mean supporting a woman when she is clearly wrong.
It doesn't mean defending bad behaviour because “men are the enemy.”

It doesn't mean joining a woman to destroy another woman simply because she is your friend.
And it definitely doesn't mean lying to your friend just to protect her feelings.

Sometimes, being a girl’s girl means looking your friend in the eye and saying:
“Sis, you messed up.”
And staying beside her while she takes responsibility.

Because what kind of friendship is it if all you can offer is applause?
Real sisterhood isn't always comfortable.
Sometimes it's:
“That man is playing you.”
“You were wrong for that.”
“Don't send that message.”
“Please, don't go back there.”
“Your behaviour was unfair.”
“I'm not going to lie to you just because you're my friend.”

And yes, she might get uncomfortable.
She might even stop talking to you.

But sometimes the most genuine form of love is telling someone the truth when everyone else is telling them what they want to hear.

Being a girl’s girl is also refusing to make another woman your competition.
Her beauty isn't an insult to yours.
Her marriage isn't proof that you are behind.

Her business succeeding doesn't mean yours must fail.
Her promotion doesn't reduce your own value.
Her body isn't your measuring stick.

Another woman winning does not mean you are losing.
And perhaps this is the part we don't talk about enough;

A girl’s girl should be able to celebrate another woman without secretly competing with her.

Recommend her business.
Compliment her.
Share the opportunity.
Give her a warning when she needs one.
Correct her privately.
Defend her when she's being treated unfairly.

But when she is wrong?
Don't become wrong with her.

Because sisterhood should not mean blind loyalty.

It should mean honesty, support, accountability and genuine love.

I would rather have a friend who tells me an uncomfortable truth than one who watches me make a mess of my life just because she wants to remain “a girl's girl.”

So, can you be a girl's girl and still call a woman out?

I absolutely think you can.

In fact, I think sometimes that's exactly what being one means. 💅🏽

Thanks for reading my blog!
Ladies!
