Last year I tried to grow quite a few veggies on my balcony I learnt what did and didn’t work lol. I realised we still get a huge array of slugs and snails despite being on the top floor. I rly have no idea how they get up here I guess someone once bought one up and it bred prolifically.
They seem to only have a penchant for certain foods though. They absolutely desecrated my kale whilst leaving my chard completely alone:
I get my plants from this Little boat on the canal that gives away seedlings for donations to inspire more city dwellers to grow their own mini food crops on balconies and gardens.
So quite a few of mine are outside but those that got badly eaten I’m trying to nestle amongst my rare house plants inside and then also for various reasons kept a few others inside too.
Can you guess what they all are? Doesn’t anyone else grow their veggie plants inside?
I also purchased a couple of these little Venus fly traps. I have so many plants and leave my huge balcony doors open 24/7 so thought these might stop little critters taking over. It’s probably a bit cruel but I feel at least it’s natural. These plants need really boggy wet conditions and bright light, they attract the flies to land on the open ‘flowers’ which then seal up.
