I am probably the healthiest eater I know, I barely touch alcohol, don’t take medications unless it was critical, not eaten sugar, processed food or wheat in any significant amount now for almost 19 years. Plant based, mostly raw, none of it was hard for me. My vice though is coffee. I don’t think I’ve skipped coffee in the morning since the age of 17 except for one month on a yoga teacher trainer course and I still had one every Sunday when we got to leave the place for a few hours and I would sneak off for two huge ones thst made me feel dizzy! It’s just the one thing I’ve never been able to quit. It’s probably not just the caffeine tbh I just enjoy the taste and the milky hot drink, or oat milk hot drink anyways and I’m sure the caffeine helps a bit. I’ve gone between 1 and 7 🙈 a day. The later was at uni and not for a long long time. I now fluctuate between 1 a day and 2-3 on occasion before I check myself.
The one thing i feel can somewhat take its place is matcha latte. Matcha latte is a green tea powder blended with hot milk. It’s nice and bitter unlike most of the alternative lattes and has caffeine like green tea but it gives you a more sustained high than a buzz which, often ends up with you feeling drained. I know when I was younger I defo burnt out my adrenals!
I have felt in my intuition for a few years now I should quit I tried a few times and lasted about two days. I’m not going to never have one again but try and see it as more of a ritual drink to have on occasion.
Some do say coffee is good and it I do see some of the oldest living people drinking it to be fair but a lot of research is funded by the coffee makers. That’s the problem with health these days, there is always someone wanting To make money from it. Most health studies are funded by the companies they are studying, diet products are intended to keep you on a perpetual diet and so called ‘health products’ are generally more crap at an inflated price. If you know about food and health and read the ingredients you’ll know that, but a lot of people don’t bother and just read the words on the front of the label.
I’m not saying I’ll succeed but something in me flippEd this morning where for the first time I woke up and didn’t even fancy a coffee. Let’s see how it goes
