A cold and rainy day at the hatchery so not much business but still a long morning shift. The sky was still dark with big rain clouds when Lulu and I headed up Spearfish Canyon for an afternoon hike (my wife has been sick and I picked up extra volunteer shifts so my running was pretty much nothing).
We set off at a good pace along the quiet and damp path. A few scattered rain drops would occasionally fall but our hike remained nice for about 3 miles. Then a cold wind blew into the canyon and the sky became darker and the drizzle became sa bit heavier.
Fortunately we made it back to the parking lot before the storm hit so we only had to dash a few hundred feet with small hailstones pelting us.
I hope it's nicer tomorrow afternoon so that we can return to the canyon for a nicer hike through the forest.
