A sponge is a quintessential item on all of our cleaning supply lists. The items that you use to clean also need to be cleaned. Are you changing or sanitizing Your kitchen sponge not frequently enough. This might not be something you think about regularly. Microscopic bugs and bacteria actually favor the kitchen, where you eat and prepare food. And the nexus of all that microbial activity could be sitting right next to the kitchen sink - on the sponge.

Most of the germs they found won’t make you sick, but some could. So, if you’re the person who diligently cleans the kitchen counter, sink and refrigerator shelves, but fails to disinfect your sponge afterwards, try this to keep germs at bay:
By soaking your sponge in water, wringing it out, then placing it in the microwave for two minutes daily, make sure that it’s not getting burnt.
If you have a dishwasher, place it on the top rack and set it to the “heated dry” setting.
Alternatively, soak your sponge in vinegar or bleach for five minutes.

You should really be replacing your kitchen sponge anywhere from once a month to once every two weeks depending on how much you use it.
