Turkey experienced the biggest earthquake in its history today! Unfortunately, we were caught unprepared for this long-awaited earthquake. The region where the earthquake occurred has been under scrutiny by experts for a long time and it was said that a major earthquake would occur especially in that region. Unfortunately, these warnings were ignored and that terrible day came! Moreover, there was no preparation. Weak, flimsy construction caused the deaths of many people. I say many, I cannot give a number because the death toll is increasing every second. Thousands of people are still under the cave-in waiting to be rescued. Since Turkish people are very helpful, everyone has been doing their best since the first moment, but the weather conditions have made everything difficult.
I wish all precautions had been taken before the earthquake happened. These weak structures should have been identified and such heavy destruction should not have happened. Just to make more money, cheap materials were used, weak structures were built and even houses that were only 1 year old were destroyed. Is human life so cheap? Tiny babies were trapped under the rubble on these cold winter days. People lost their loved ones! Was it worth it for money? When did we forget our humanity? I am too tired and sad to write more... I can't get over the shock of what has happened. It is such a devastation that I don't know how people will recover and return to normal. I hope there are no more deaths and that these bad days will soon be in the past. And I hope that measures will be taken to prevent it from happening again!
