Purslane (Portulaca Oleracea)
This is a picture I took in 2016 of the Purslane in our flower bed. We buy it every year and plant it in May (In N. Carolina, USA).
We love it for it's beautiful, bright blooms, that are open in daylight but close every night.
It lasts all through the summer (it seems to flourish in hot bright sun), but goes into the Fall a bit.
While we love it for its beauty, it is also an edible source of many vitamins and minerals.
Some testing has been done, showing that its extract may be a source of a cure for a few types of cancer.
