Original photo, no filter. At first glance the photo here resembles a color scheme that of a neck tie. Even the texture and shape make me think about picking out ties for job interviews. These types of plants get discolored pretty quickly in the winter but as the sun starts to come out more and more they start to show these florescent pink colors on the outer edge of the leaves.
In the bottom lower left hand corner you can see a small shadow developing, that's probably me standing in between the direct path of the sun to the plant. Usually when I take my shots I try to avoid casting a shadow over the area in which I'm trying to capture but this time it was unavoidable given the angle. I guess I could have done more work to center it perfectly but in reality that's half the battle when taking shots for the blog.
