If I am asked this question "who I am most like in my family?" the simple answer is easy and very clear to everyone around me and those that know me, so that will be my Mom and I don't need to think about it even for a second.
So in our family, I have three sisters also my mom and dad. Four of us children, to be clear on this I and my sisters, we are nothing alike, not even close, various personalities, different views, different worldviews, and different modes of functioning in the world, so You cant look at us all and immediately know that we are from the same background,, maybe except form how people say we resemble each other, though I don't see it, let's just say it's there, so there are so many things that we have in common with each other, I find that fascinating and it's not that I'm not , yes, we have lived in the same house, had the same parents, the same food at elast most of the times, all this and we came out from our childhood as totally different adults entirely.
Sometimes it is like that.
But my mom. My mom is on another level on her own, Something about us, Is that me and her, I can't explain how our thinking usually goes, It's not a thing we sit down and talk about, or something that we planned. It is just there, Maybe natural or nature, our minds operate on the same frequency; when one of us "tunes in" the other one is already there waiting.
I will be in the middle of saying something, an idea, a thought, what I am still trying to think about before saying, and before I have even finished a sentence she's already there, already thinking it, already seeing what I am seeing from what angle I am seeing it from, there's no excuse for it, this isn't simply a mother supporting her daughter something, that's just two people who really think alike and it's one of the most comforting experiences in my life. Midway through a thought to turn around and find that very same thought in someone else's head, to not have to complete the explanation, as the explanation is not needed, she has already here saying it
Sometimes I wonder about this, if it is nature or nurture, am I the same thinker as she is or have I become that way from observing her over the years? Maybe both, Perhaps you can't really distinguish the two in the case of a mother and daughter who have been close from the start.
We also look alike too, I've always heard it and I seen it too, I think it is interesting to look like someone because it makes a level of connection, you recognize yourself in them, and you find the other recognitions in you more real because of the physical resemblance, the exterior is simply a corroboration of the interior.
My mom is the only family member who really enjoys my ideas like really, not at the nodding-along-in-understanding-parent level, but in a real way, The way in which you can see that she is truly listening, thinking about what you said, paying attention to it, genuinely interested in it instead of just listening to what you tell her.
That's a type of support that's hard to come by even within the family circle having someone who is on your side who understands what you're trying to do before you fully do it yourself.
My sisters are my sisters and I love them as they are, My dad is my dad and yes I love him too, But, that one person in my family, that is really my own person is my mom.
We have many connections that cannot be explained, they are just there, and I have learned to be grateful for that rather than trying to make sense of it
I am most like my mom in all truth, I could not have chosen a better person to emulate.
