Family resemblance is something people notice easily, but I never really thought about it until people started pointing it out to me. In my family, I have been told countless times that I look like my mother the most and that always make me happy because, my mother is a good example to follow. At first, I thought it was just a casual comment. But the more I grew up, the more I realized that people were not only talking about my face, they were also talking about my character, my actions, my intelligence, and even the way I speak, to me that is awesome.
And physically, people say I take after my mother. We have the same facial features, especially around the eyes, nose and smile. Whenever we stand together for pictures, people immediately say, That is your mother. Even strangers who meet my mother for the first time later tell me how much we look alike and how they didn't crack their brain t know she is my mother. My siblings joke that if they saw me from behind, they would think it was my mother. Mother and son resemblance.
Beyond appearance, I have also inherited my mother’s character. She is a calm, patient, and hardworking person. I have noticed that I respond to situations the same way she does. When there is a problem at home, I try to stay calm and find a solution instead of panicking, just like her. People around me say I have her gentle way of handling people and her willingness to help others without expecting anything in return.
In terms of action, I catch myself doing things exactly the way my mother does them. The way I arrange things, the way I cook, and even the little habits like folding clothes or greeting elders all mirror her. Sometimes my younger siblings laugh and say, "You’re acting like mum again." It shows that I have unconsciously picked up her ways of doing things.
People also say I got my intelligence from her. My mother is a sharp and quick-thinking person. She always finds answers and solutions, and she encourages learning in our house. I realized that I approach school work and problems the same way she taught me: by thinking carefully, asking questions, and not giving up easily. Teachers and relatives have commented that my reasoning and the way I explain things sound just like her.
Finally, the thing that surprises me most is my voice. Many people say that when I speak on the phone, they think it is my mother. We have similar vocal tones and even similar ways of expressing ourselves. When I tell a story, I use the same expressions and tone that she uses.
In conclusion, I believe I look like my mother the most in my family. It is not just about facial appearance. It is about character, actions, intelligence, and even the way I speak. Looking like my mother is something I am proud of because she is a good role model to me. If I grow up to be half the kind of person she is, I will consider myself successful.
