Demon slayer infinity castle had me sitting face front on my phone , while I got immensed in it.
If you are not familiar with the plot, here is a brief summary of it, so a young boy named Tanjiro Kamado joins an organization known as the Demon Slayer Corps after his little sister Nezko is transformed into a demon, from the start of his mission, his only goal has been to make her turn her back on humans, and on the way he has had to battle all kinds of demons with his friends Zenitsu and Inosuke, and the formidable Hashira, senior swordsmen, At this point in the anime, one can feel the history that's jam-packed into the anime, this is not a new story, this is a story that is coming to its end.
Following this intense scene, the demon slayers are finally given a chance at the one that caused the bulk of the suffering in this entire universe, the demon king Muzan himself, but, as these things go, nothing is simple in these types of tales, and they know that this time, they will not be able to simply decapitate him. They need sunlight, the one thing which immediately kills demons for good to really finish him off, the only problem, it's nighttime, second problem, Muzan knew what was to come.
Instead, he does something crazy, he drags all of them, including Tanjiro, the Hashira, and everyone else, into another dimension, The Infinity Castle..... So Imagine long halls and buildings extending in all directions, isolated from the outside world, isolated from sunlight, so that's the battlefield, But Muzan's plan isn't just to escape, he wants to eliminate all the demon slayers, while he's at it, then take things a step further by absorbing Nezuko's blood, since she's the only demon who can somehow survive sunlight. If he pulls that off, nothing can stop him ever again
What follows is honestly one long, breathless fight for survival, The demon slayers are now spread across this ever-changing space, each one of them facing the demons that they must face and try to survive, but also trying to find any escape route from this dimension before it's too late, I think it's the animation that carries so much of the emotional weight here, anyway.... Every fight is intense and every strike makes you feel like you are actually fighting for something, because you are, nobody just wins because they're the main character, you feel the exhaustion, the desperation, the stakes climbing higher every single scene.
What i liked the most is that it is not about simply clicking and having action happen for dramatic purposes, It's emotional, it's loyalty, sacrifice, characters exhausting themselves for love of others, you know..... It made me actually care about outcomes instead of just watching pretty animation for two hours straight.
Now here's the thing though, this is only the first of three movies wrapping up the entire series, so obviously it ends without fully resolving everything, Muzan is still out there, the battle is still raging on, and more is still to come and i didn't feel cheated when it ended, even knowing it would, but I still didn't, I wanted the next chapter as much as the first chapter, and that's a good thing. It's beautifully made, emotionally heavy in all the right places, and it left me counting down until I can watch the next one.
