A story better shown than told.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
The "irrational exuberance" of the crowds woken up to a reality they never knew before.
The promise of untold fortunes made overnight simply by "hodl" ing, or whatever the made-up term is nowadays.
The fatal attraction of the light and the electric zap that burns the wings on any moth that doesn't know its place.
The slamming of the wannabe millionaires by the "big boys" that were called to "legitimize" something born from spite and disgust for all they represent but too many of us have chosen too soon to forget and forgive.
Broken dreams.
Optimism.
Resentment.
Hope.
Despair.
Happiness.
Rage.
Confusion.
Elation.
Human contradiction at its best.
This year showed us one more time what we're made of.
Have you never wondered why people that want to go to heaven don't want to die?
And some were suckered into or squeezed out of positions time and again.
One step behind the market.
Always too late.
Never in tune with the lullaby.
One intermittent humming noise meant to appease their vigilance.
Technicals don't do it justice at all.
The price charts alone cannot encapsulate all that was lost and gained and found and learned and forgotten again and again.
Looking back the story of the past year tastes bittersweet.
Almost.
We have no reason NOT to believe it will continue to be so.
Not at all.
We called for the safety of funds and we've got regulations.
We called for liquidity and we've got price manipulation.
We called for legitimacy and we've got taxes.
The red tape now stretches as far as the eyes can see.
The alphabet soup is in our destiny.
AML KYC SEC FED and all the rest.
Past, present and future contraptions.
We want to be free but not quite.
We want to grow up but not too fast.
We want only the upside but not the downside.
It was supposed to be our thing and now it's theirs.
Again, we seem to have lost something that maybe we were not ready to have.
Will we ever be?
READY, that is...
I wonder.
I realize that all this sounds like an epitaph.
It's not.
Will it become one?
Who knows?!
We still have hopes and dreams and plans and energy to spend.
We're not dead yet.
Not all of us, anyway.
That being said, I'm throwing in the ring something written almost a hundred years ago.
It's not anti-something or somebody and most definitely it's not something pro anything.
It's merely a bunch of words that rhyme with what we live.
This may be an echo from our past that still lingers.
It refuses to die off.
It's about all of us, humans.
I kindly invite you to comment on and around it if you care enough, because none of us is as smart as all of us.
Be kind!
Be well!
Be civil!
