Tracking the lost miners through a connecting tunnel led us to their bodies before a ceiling collapse triggered a gas leak. Forced to ditch our lamps, we ran through a spreading firestorm. Enzo tripped but was saved by Gaetano, who then tragically died when he turned back for his lost cash.
As we had to look for a connecting tunnel, I started looking around and found one. And then I found some equipment of the lost miners which told us we were on the right track.
Following footsteps of the missing miners, we started walking deeper into the mine and reached this place where we found some water pitchers, but there was no water in them which confirmed they had been stranded here without resources for a long time.
And then we reached this hole where we had to slide down knowing it could be dangerous ahead. And I volunteered first to descend into the darkness of the lower level.
Right after going down, we found the lost miners, but they were not alive. And suddenly, a ceiling part of the mine started collapsing on us, sending heavy rocks and thick clouds of dust raining down around our positions.
After getting back up as the collapsing stopped, Gaetano noticed the abnormal flame on his lamp. So they understood the presence of gas around there, watching the fire turned an unnatural color there.
Throwing our lamps behind, we started running real fast to survive as the whole place started burning up as we brought lamps there when it was already filled with gas.
We went far from the danger zone, but when the place was still collapsing, Enzo fell behind, so Gaetano stopped to help Enzo.
We kept running to survive, knowing it was the last part of the mine, and when we just went out of the danger zone, Gaetano noticed the cash they retrieved from the mine at the beginning, he lost it behind.
So he walked behind even after Enzo asked him not to, and the man died from a collapse, buried under a final, massive structural cave-in.
To be continued.
