Hi, my dear Hive gardeners!
May has begun and the best time for replenishing the garden with new plants is coming to an end. We are approaching the period of flowering and situational care.
As you probably already understood today, I received another package from the plant store to replenish my collection. This time my choice was rather exotic. In fact, I have already planted almost everything that I have planted and now I am focused more on caring for the existing plants than on replenishing the collection. But I'm still adding some accents to give my garden more personality. So, what will my garden be replenished with this time?
Wow! The box is quite big! Let's unpack it together!
So, two two-year-old seedlings of Cortaderia (pampas grass). I have long dreamed of this herbaceous plant in my garden. It is quite large and very effective. In addition, it is great for creating a hedge in those parts of the garden where it is needed. I have to admit that I have already tried to grow it before, but at that time I bought a rhizome and it didn’t work out for me. After a bad experience, I decided that it would be wiser to pay a little more, but get older and more viable plants.
Yes, great! What else do we have here? Wow! Two American Agaves! These are large and very showy succulents. Well, yes, in my case - not large yet. This is the whole humor of buying plants in an online store: you are guided by a photo of an adult plant, but you get two half-sized ones. Well, they're still growing up. In addition, you need to understand that in the climate of my country, agave can only be grown as a tub plant, so I would hardly be happy with a full-length version two meters high! 😁
And here is (don't laugh!) a palm tree! Well.... not quite a tree yet... But I believe in it being a success! Hmm.... with a garden choice like that, I should probably live somewhere further south...
And my last purchase for today is a short rhododendron. The seller promises an absolutely amazing flower color, but judging by the size of the plant, I will have to wait at least a couple of years for flowering ... Okay, I will plant it in a pot so that it does not get lost in the garden!
I would like to note that I love to shop with this seller. Plants are always carefully packaged and signed. And if I do not make gross mistakes in caring for them, they always take root.
I will add that this store is located in Odessa. These amazing people work under the constant shelling of fascist Russia and in spite of everything they try to bring joy to our hearts and beautiful plants to our gardens.
