Hello Hive family,
Greetings from Lusaka, Zambia! I wanted to share a small update from my garden.
The first photo shows how my plot looked a few weeks ago. It was completely overgrown with wild grasses, weeds and dry branches. It is the bushy area near our trees where I decided to start something. Many people would see just bush, but I saw potential for food.
I started clearing it little by little with my hands. No tractor, just a hoe and determination. It was hard work under the hot sun, but I knew what I wanted to plant.
The second photo is the result today - my young cassava plant. Look at those beautiful green leaves! This cassava is growing in our red Zambian soil. Cassava is very important for us here. It is drought tolerant, it gives us both leaves as vegetable and tubers as food security.
For me, gardening is not just about planting. It is about patience and hope. You clear the bush today, you plant tomorrow, and you trust the rain and God
for the harvest.
My plan is to add more cassava cuttings and also grafted oranges around the area to create a mixed food forest.
