Although it may seem trite to say it or to think that every week begins the same way, it may be true. But the reality is that these topics that galenkp@galenkp presents and invites us to reflect on are of great importance, at least to me, because they address issues that interest us all.

The topic I wish to address today has profound social significance because it concerns issues that I would eradicate from humanity and that, in my opinion, would make it a better place for everyone.

The first thing I would eliminate would be the permanent deterioration of the environment

We cannot assume that the resources that nature provides us are unlimited. It's not for nothing that these are classified as renewable and non-renewable. I believe that unbridled consumerism harms nature and is one of the causes of environmental degradation because, in this process, natural resources that are the basis for human development are damaged.

Also, in this process, water is often polluted because toxic materials are dumped into seas, lakes, or rivers, causing the disappearance of marine species, which are the food source for a significant portion of the world's population.

I also include wars here because, in addition to all the harm it can cause to nations, killing people or harming them physically and psychologically is the worst form of environmental damage.

Another behavior I would eliminate is violence

I am against all types of violence, whether physical, psychological, or structural, because it would help build a better society by achieving understanding between human beings.

We often see only physical violence.

But psychological violence is also harmful, in which people's value is generally diminished, ignored, subtly offended, or their rights are not recognized.

Another type of violence is structural violence, in which the freedom, well-being, or survival of one group of people is harmed to the detriment of others.

The third behavior I would eliminate from humanity would be misinformation

This is a process that, far from disappearing, tends to perpetuate itself as one of the evils affecting society, and the emergence of social media has contributed to the intensification of this phenomenon. Furthermore, the use of new tools such as artificial intelligence has allowed some people to wield a weapon to misinform, deceive, and distort information.

On some occasions, misinformation has sparked wars and caused the loss of thousands of lives. On other occasions, this misinformation has discredited a person, leading them to take their own life.

Incorrect information can lead to wrong decisions, with fatal outcomes.

A final comment

I believe that eradicating these behaviors would allow for better relations between human beings and a more just, sustainable, peaceful, and humane humanity.

What do you think?
