Hmmmm come to think of it , you know I have never really had to think about this thing, but somehow if I can connect this with the story in the bible about the tower of babel , I will say we might have gone far with a lot of things if there were no conflicts in the world, remember God caused confusion when they were building that tower, lol thinking about it now , I don't think this conflict we have is human made, I can say it's God's made.
I know I'm going down a rabbit hole here, but the more I think about it, the more intriguing it is, if everyone in the world were satisfied with all they had, would we be able to develop the technology that we have?
Maybe yes.
Maybe no.
Let's face it, quite a few inventions arose because someone wanted something that was better, faster, easier, or more convenient, someone became tired of doing something by hand and said, “There has to be a better way to do this,” and then bingo, an invention is conceived.
There has always been a thirst for more.
More comfort
More money
More power
More knowledge
Greater control of their environment
And sometimes, that desire has pushed humanity forward, But then, I also think conflict has played a huge role in technological growth, a lot of technology that we use today was originally developed because of war, competition, or the need to solve a serious problem.
People who go under pressure begin to think about what to do and when there is a problem, someone begins to think about how to solve it.
When there is competition, people try to create something better than what already exists, so maybe conflict has been one of the things pushing humanity forward.
But then again, would we have had to fight and suffer for us to grow?
That's where I honestly don't know, maybe if the world was perfect, people would have had more time to focus on exploring, creating, and discovering new things without the destruction that comes with conflict.
Imagine a world without people jostling for land, power, money or resources, imagine all the brilliant minds that could have worked together instead of against each other.
Perhaps technology would have progressed even more rapidly, or perhaps people would have gotten too comfortable, and they wouldn't have needed to invent anything.
That's the thing about people, sometimes they don't do anything until they have a reason to, someone may be complaining about a problem for years and years, but when the problem becomes serious enough, they become interested in finding a solution.
And this brings me back to the story of the Tower of Babel, according to the Bible, people were united and building something so great that God confused their languages and scattered them.
Now, I know people may interpret that story differently, but when I think about it in relation to this topic, I find it interesting, what if humanity had remained completely united and focused on one goal?
What would have been achieved if we had not? I think if we hadn't had conflict, we would have done great things that we couldn't dream of today, but at the same time, I'm not sure that's what conflict's all about. Lol, seriously I don't know.
I think sometimes being in conflict is just a part of human life, but when I look at the Bible story, I also consider if some of our limitations are part of God's plan, Maybe humanity isn't supposed to have everything at once , After all, I think growth can happen in both peace and conflict.
Need can push us to innovate, competition can make us improve, and problems can force us to think,but peace can also give people the freedom and resources to create without constantly trying to survive.
Perhaps it is balance, I don't think that the world would be as innovative as it is if we weren't faced with problems, and seriously, the more I think about it the more I realise that the problems we see are the same that are pushing us to find solutions.
After all, and perhaps, just perhaps, that is the way humanity has gone.
