A necessary introduction
Greetings to all members of the community.
Today I want to tell a life story, from my personal experience with the topic proposed by @holos-lotus and, hopefully, it can help someone because it is an issue that affects many and manifests itself in different areas of our lives and has an impact on those who suffer from it, but, it affects the family environment.
You may wonder what we are referring to and the answer is that we are talking about a mood disorder characterized by various feelings such as prolonged sadness, manifest disinterest, loss of interest in the things we liked and dislike for everything or almost everything.
If we are referring to depression which, contrary to what is thought, is not only feeling sad because, in addition to that feeling. It can bring with it different symptoms that affect physical and mental health and, sometimes, if the patient does not seek help and does not get out of this state, it can end up threatening his own life.
Depression can have different causes, but its effects are devastating if it is not professionally treated or if the patient does not manage to get out of this health condition.
Today I want to tell you a life story of the author with this problem and, I hope that if any of the people who live in this hive is going through a similar situation, it will help them to get out of this terrible condition.

My life story with depression
What I am about to tell you has marked the story of my life and, although I have managed to overcome this depressive phase, the truth is that sometimes it hurts.
I always wanted to be a professional, raise a family and be a good person. With those ingredients I was sure that happiness would come.
However, at the end of 1996 I received one of the worst news of my life, because, after several tests and analysis, it was concluded that I could not have children.
It is difficult to describe what I suffered, I cried and the emotional, psychological and physical damage my body was exposed to.
It was a stage in which I looked like a vagabond, I hardly ingested food, my only consolation was alcohol and I continually resorted to it, to forget. However, I neither improved nor could I forget.
I could not understand that I did not have the possibility of leaving a child, two or three, nor that they would give me the possibility of becoming a grandfather. It hurt me to know that I would be unable to have the family I loved and dreamed of, and this made me feel like a frustrated man.
But, without knowing it, I was damaging the health of my mother, my sisters and my brother who saw how I was deteriorating.
The partner I had at the time abandoned me and this deepened my sadness, which made me feel like the worst of human beings.
How did I get out of that situation?
Looking back and seeing the time that has passed, I must say that it was not easy and, in all honesty, I thought I would never get out of the depressive state I was in. But, I had the best doctor, psychologist and friend you can have, and the support and help of the best treasure we have in life: Mother and family. Now, after much meditation, I can say that these were some of the things that allowed me to get out of the depression of not being able to have children.
My mom took me to interviews with specialists, but, the funny thing was that at first they were interviews that I thought were common.
My family supported me by giving me the love of their children so that I would not feel this lack.
My mother insisted that I should take up teaching as my definitive profession. Unbeknownst to me, my mother tried to ensure that I would have the love of a son in my students that life had biologically denied me.
My mother took me to people who were in my same condition to tell me their life stories, support me and help me with this situation.
I started to adopt healthy lifestyles and began to exercise, I stopped drinking uncontrollably and food became part of my daily life.
I found in the love of my nephews and nieces the love of the children that life denied me.
Other actions were combined with this and I was able to gradually get out of this situation.
But, what finally gave meaning to my life and balanced my social condition was my relationship with my current wife, with whom I have been married for 27 years.
Confirmation of salvation from depression
When I met my current wife, I was coming out of a depressive state, I had moved from the province where I was living and I thought of giving a new focus to my life.
This woman was the director of the school where I worked and by those things of destiny that allow us to fall in love and have empathy, on October 29, 1997 we began our adventure.
Why am I telling you this?
She has two children who, at that time, were 5 and 10 years old and I assumed them as my children. I must say that I never tried to supplant their father, with whom I had the best relationship, and who was an excellent father. But, my wife entrusted me with her two most precious treasures and allowed me to become a father who, as I have said on several occasions: “the father is the male version of love”.
