This is my first post in this community which I discovered by @crazyPhantombr, after kindly commenting on a post I made for an initiative promoted by the Loving Hive Community. From your invitation to publish in this community here I leave you a publication that I modestly share with whoever can read it.
the author and the engineer
Today is an important day in the life of all the colleagues of the work area that I direct at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology/Geological Survey of Cuba because one of our workers reached an important achievement in his professional life by becoming a Computer Engineer.
Every achievement of one of the workers under my charge I feel it as mine because I know the effort and dedication they have to put into play, to be able to achieve such a result. In this case it is a young man that I have seen grow both in age and professionally and seeing him become a higher technician fills us with great satisfaction because it is like a child that you see being born and that little by little is growing and developing.
anecdotes
One piece of news filled us with all the joy possible: Leo became an engineer and not because the news seemed impossible to us, but because it had been a long time since he started studying Computer Engineering. I remember that I started working at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology six years ago and he was already studying for his degree. However, once again Covid 19 is back to wreak havoc because it set him back two years from graduation.
What to do to celebrate?
How to celebrate such recognition?
Again I went to the collective contest and again my team responded.
Little by little I communicated with each of the workers. I could not use the WhatsApp group because Leonardo would find out about the surprise we wanted to prepare for him.
When I asked each worker to bring a snack to share, people told me what to bring and we encouraged everyone to bring whatever they could, because the most important thing was to celebrate our colleague's victory, which we should consider as something collective.
The celebration was held in the center's library, which is in our work area and has all the privacy possible. The least Leo expected was the surprise we were preparing.
shared joy
At 11 a.m. we started the meeting, as planned. While all the colleagues were in the library preparing the surprise Leo was attending to a co-worker who in complicity with us was holding him so that he would not know what we had prepared.
When I sent for him and he came in, we all stood up and started singing congratulations for his success.
It is unimaginable how human beings can get so excited about something as seemingly simple as what we prepared today. As much as he tried not to cry, you could see the emotion in his eyes and the gratitude to his colleagues for such a noble gesture.
In one part of the activity he commented on everything he had to study to win the race, he talked about the strongest subjects and those that made him study the most. He valued the quality of everything he had learned and the adventure he had lived for the discussion of his Diploma Project.

Several classmates told anecdotes, stories that happened to Leo related to the career and congratulated him for the new stage of his life.
For my part, I addressed other elements because I was closer to him in his training process and congratulated him on behalf of all the workers of the center, where he is very dear to me.
After the usual congratulations, anecdotes, photos and laughter at the occurrences of the moment, we began to taste the dishes that all the colleagues brought from their homes and that we turned into a great "Cuban Table", not because of the sumptuousness, but because of the love and passion with which we made it.
