Today's harvest of garlic shallots and sprouting the stalks in fish tank water to get them rooting again, only takes a few days to see roots on them. I'll plant them back in the patch alongside the others doubling the size of the harvest for next time. Stop paying for something that can be grown so easily at home they need very little attention and they take up little space. The harvested patch will be back to full size in no time at all, it grows so fast you can almost watch it. They grow an inch in the first day and two on the second they don't slow down from there. So don't ever be afraid to cut them right back to the ground. In a week there will be plenty of fresh stuff to eat again and in two weeks you won't even know they were all cut back to the ground. Hopefully I can get another large harvest before I leave them behind.
Sun drying them over the next few days. I want plenty to take away with me. I like them in my soup if I get the munchies late at night. There's not much to know about sun drying anything it's very difficult to get wrong. I put them out in the sun in the morning and give them a bit of a flip stir about twice a day. Once I concider them dry. I like to put them in a brown paper bag for a while so I can give them a bit of a shake over the next few days to make sure they are really dry no moisture left at all before I put them in a container.
