If you think you are going through the worst situation in life, you need to listen to other people’s stories. You may stop blaming yourself or beating yourself up too much when you realize that many people are facing even greater challenges.
As the saying goes, life doesn’t come with a manual, and there is no specific way anyone is expected to live it. It all depends on the kind of challenges that come your way and what you are faced with. Life is not a bed of roses, so we just have to live our lives and allow nature to take its course.
There is a saying that goes, “The person who has a head doesn’t have a cap, while the person who has a cap doesn’t have a head to wear it.” That is a typical way life plays out sometimes.
I heard about a boy who, despite having a father who smoked and hardly took care of him, was able to excel in his studies. Unfortunately, his irresponsible father couldn’t even afford to send him to a higher institution. He struggled to get a job with his secondary school certificate, but his father still continued to trouble him and even collected money from him. It was as if he was the one taking care of both his father and mother when he should have been in school.
It was my principal at work today who talked about him. She said the boy even performed better than her own child when they were both in secondary school. However, her child was able to further his education because she could afford to sponsor and finance his studies.
When we say that parents matter most in a child’s success, it may sound like a joke to some people, but it is the truth. The difference between one child and another is often that one has someone who looks after them and provides emotional, physical, and even financial support.
It is one thing to be good or even great, but it is another thing to be fortunate in life. They say preparation meets opportunity, but some people are never fortunate enough to have things come easily or to meet someone willing to help them. While some people have it easy, others never do. That is life. Different situations play out for different people. It is just what it is.
Life isn’t fair, and no matter how hard you try to make things better, some people just never seem to be lucky. I have heard of someone who has never really enjoyed life from the day he was born until adulthood. His situation is so bad that he can hardly take care of his family. He keeps moving from one problem to another, and it is sad because many people are also in the same situation.
The truth is that no one has a perfect life. It is just that some people’s lives are better than others. Some people have things easier and can get almost everything they want in life. Although they may still face one or two challenges, their situations cannot be compared to those who struggle every day. That is simply life.
