Today I decided to countdown with one very important story in my life.

I had not always been a peaceful person. I think I still remember a time when people thought my name was a contradiction to my person (well thankfully no one thinks so anymore). Aggressiveness was a second nature and my tongue was razor sharp. It wasn’t just insults it was coupled with curses and some craziness I can barely remember.

An incident changed it all, it was grave and disappointing for me but it taught me a permanent lesson for life.

I was twelve at the time, funny enough I was sort of reserved until someone tries to wake the sleeping dog. So it was like I justified my actions with the fact that I didn’t go looking for trouble and I definitely couldn’t be blamed if someone decided to make my eager tongue spew venom.
Okay I am deviating. It’s kind of a long story so I will cut it real short.

The main issue was that I met someone who wasn’t ready to take bs from my vicious tongue. I couldn’t fight so I always took solace in the fact that since I didn’t beat anyone no one would beat me, they would simply abuse me back and I was always ready. Well the sweetheart could not have me prophesying evil into her destiny (I think I said she was going to fail or something close to that in not so nice terms) so she decided to target my cute little neck.

The details are sort of fuzzy but I remember she held me by my neck tightening it with my towel and all that was on my mind was how she was going to die that day and not the next. Immediately she released me I went to get a shard of glass, I was going to throw it at her and what I still laugh at till tomorrow was my analysis of the situation.

In my mind, she was going to die and go to hell and I will be thrown in a juvenile home where I will ask God for forgiveness and then go to heaven. I was so determined until a senior got the glass out of my hands.

Now this was where my problem started; the matron called us and told us to write statement, I was just too angry to beg and I wrote the statement writing exactly what I wanted to do to the girl. Later that night I reconciled with the girl but unfortunately I had dug my pit already.

My wonderful school allowed us to write junior NECO and I was preparing for another junior exam when I was called out on the assembly and suspended from school for six whole months. In my mind I was dead, there was no other term that was perfectly suited for my situation.

I thought of numerous ways to die while waiting for my parents to come and pick me. I thought of dying under the rain ( I actually stayed under the rain for a very long time hoping if I was there long enough I would die of cold), I thought of pills and knives, different things.

Eventually someone came to tell me my mother was around, with shaky steps I went to meet her but the person I saw didn’t look like my mother. Her face was puffed, her eyes blood red; she had clearly been crying. She had gone to beg every authority she knew but no one listened to her and off we went for me to learn one of the most important lessons of my life.

I think I might have to continue tomorrow so I can fully pass the message.
