Every Little Good Act Always comes Back to You — Life Lessons
A couple of years ago, while traveling, I had a small load with me, it wasn't too big to cause inconvenience though, but I just dislike carrying loads. In fact, anytime I'm traveling and it happens that I would be carrying an extra baggage other than myself and my hand bag, it's always a problem because the thought of it would almost cause anxiety 😂. Okay, back to the story, on arriving at the park, a guy came towards me, asking where I was going while trying to help with my 'small' load.
I hesitated at first, smiling and telling him that I do not have money, before someone will start shouting 'owo mi da' that's Yoruba, what it means in English is 'where is my money'? (And some of these guys at the park would make it look like they gave you money to keep). So he smiled back and asked "how much do you have"? I responded, "don't worry, I'll help myself. He said "let's go, I just want to help you" with a smile. The smile on his face made me allow him carry my baggage.
We got to where I needed to board a bus, before then I already told myself that I was going to give him money because First, he accepted to help without expecting some reward, secondly, he was kind enough to have offered help while smiling. So I entered the bus, and he handed me my stuff, and turned to leave, I smiled back and said take, he smiled and said a thank you, in a very polite manner. There and then my day was made
The point I'm trying to drive in the story is that sometimes we have to look at life in a different perspective. We have really grown into believing that when we mention the word 'life' that it always has to do with challenges, problems, unfavorable conditions, the ugly side of thing, etc.
But, I want to talk about life in another direction or different perspective than what we are usually used to.
Life is a gift, life is a previlege, life should be lived with purpose, and one of the things that makes life fulfilling to me or maybe any other person is kindness; being humane. Being able to do one act of kindness every little chance you get, and also receiving same from others is so fulfilling.
First, I learnt from that incident that it's not always about the elaborate things, it's sometimes the little things that matter.
Second, that life can be lived with ease if little things acts excite us, life can be more fulfilling if we find happiness in small wins or achievements;
Third, that we can smile at strangers too, even though we barely know them. People go through a lot everyday, and the little we can always do is to be considerate and accommodating not only when it is convenient. And this should be done with wisdom.
Again, that life can be more rewarding if we become passionate about purpose rather than just existing by chance.
Every kindness you show with a pure heart and intentions always has a way of coming back to you.
Whereas, showing kindness with a heavy heart, murmurs, complaints, expectations, has little to no reward.
Above all, showing kindness should be done without bitterness, expectations, it should be done to honour God, not glorify self or make the receiver feel they are indebted to you, or feel less of themselves.
Thank you for reading, and have a beautiful day ahead🌺
