I was supposed to post this yesterday but I guess it's better late than never... You might not get this if you didn't read my previous post..
So in counting down to my birthday I decided to share a very important story in my life which I started in my last post and I will continue now
Anyways I got home with my mom that day and I was so sad, even now as I write I can still remember the sadness in every shade.
Okay so I was asked to pick pin after my mum asked for the explanation and my explanation was apparently very foolish.
All these hurt me but not as much as when I saw my dad. You see, my dad talks with us a lot such that he doesn't expect us to be victims of certain things.
I can never forget the wealth of disappointment in my father's eyes, I just can't put it into words. When he spoke it was with so much pain and sadness. I couldn't eat that night but I think my mum forced me to.
And that was the beginning of my lesson, my parents tried their best to get me back to school, they wrote letters, begged people but nothing changed. I saw all of these and it made me so unhappy.
Really it wasn't just that but I was punished in more psychological and emotional ways than physical; I didn't go out with them, I was always in the house because I was a disappointment. The talks were the worst.
My foolishness was pointed out to me over and over again in different depths and degrees. I was made to see the pointlessness of my actions. I mean I had threatened someone, I had wanted to get into a fight or gotten into one and see what it costed me; pain for the whole family, not being in school, waste of time and money, endless work and talks. And I could have avoided all that stupidity by being patient for two minutes, by walking away from the situation, by even apologising first, by laughing away the situation, something other than indulging in moments of anger.
Day in and day out, I learnt the importance of patience, the foolishness of anger or at least wallowing in it and taking spontaneous steps in it, I learnt the effects of a razor mouth, the wisdom in being peaceful and looking for peaceful ways to resolve issues.
I don't think I realized it then that these were the things I was learning but later on these lessons reflected in my life. I became peaceful and very peaceful, now when I tell people I hate having issues or fighting they have no idea where I am coming from.
Looking back, this lesson has guided me through life and has been responsible for so many important decisions in my life. And to think I have a seeming failure to thank for this is so ironical, well I also have my parents to appreciate for it. The effects their talks and analysis had is so much more than any beating of spoiling me could have ever had.
So if you didn't pick anything from all I have said so far please pick these two:
First, Impatience of a few moments can cost you so much more than if you had been patient.
Second, try and pick a lesson in every failure or seeming failure.
I think some of these lessons are embedded in some pieces in my anthology Phoenix T21 , they kind of formed some foundations in my life so that's to be expected.
Anyways... Till the next post... Much love 😘😘
