Getting organized - The July 2017 Edition! Part 2
Part 1 was mostly about the why to get organized. Now we are going to get into the how.
How to determine what to do with it all.
You have three choices initially:
Trash it/ Donate it/ Keep it
When in doubt, toss it out.
If it doesn't function in your life, if you know you don't need it, if you think it is damaged in any way... trash it is an option.
If you hate it, donate it.
If you don't wear it or use it anymore, it is weighing you down. Someone else may need it and be ever so grateful that you donated it. Shelters for the abused or military veterans are my personal favorites.
Keep it. Even if you keep it initially, you may toss it in the trash or donate it during another purge. You can afford to be selective remember why you are getting rid of things and concentrate on how good it is going to feel when you aren't surrounded by stuff you don't want or need.
Remember that some donations are tax deductible depending on what country you live in. Make an itemized list of what you donated and assign a used (not retail) value to each item. Give this to your tax preparer at tax time!
If you have items of value, you might consider selling them on consignment. Google consignment shops in your area for a painless way to sell off bags, jewelry, statues, furniture, etc. Some might even pick it up for you!
There you have it! you are another step closer to your clutter free life!
Part three coming soon!
