Ho-hum Hero
by Tim Liwanag
Someone said you're a social butterfly
who flirts with pollen-rich flowers
and drinks free nectars. "Here I am," you say
creating a charming and confident persona
around a bunch of people unaware
then leaves for a gutsy adventure
after feeding of their laughters,
always expecting love...
Bingo, roll on snare drums!
Alas, that inkblot on your face, the black dye
so viscid, so expressive of anger
and indiferrence. "F—ing beautiful," you say
dealing with life, face-to-face,
grabbing each horn, the zing and zap,
bada-bing bada-boom
— facing the worst danger,
always caring the most...
Gringo, keep doing it for your chums!
Rorschach went out, cold, fidgety.
He never took a chance with fun
except, you know, on things he wanted done
without distraction, bizzy and more disturbed. ■
