How Cute.....Does It Know Any Other Trick? - feat. Kitty
"Be not distracted by cuteness and fluff,
Byzantine Kitty is cuddly but tough,
If you dare to think kitty is merely a pet,
You haven’t faced kitty in battle just yet."
-- SplinterLore
I can honestly say that this week's Share Your Battle Challenge is a compelling one. It involves featuring a favorite splinter among players, Dragon. Due to its versatility to be used with other splinters, it allows players to come up with varying team compositions to be featured in this week's challenge. As for my blog entry, it is a way to showcase arguably the best Dragon Summoner, Kitty!!!
As the lores have it, though it is indeed cute. It is not something to be messed up with. Never underestimate the power it gives on battles.
Level 2
Summoner Abilities at Level 2:
- +2 Speed for all allies
- True Strike At Start Of Battle
- Heal Monster at First Position at Each Round
Match Proper
Match Rules:
Mana Cap - 50
Conditions:
- Earthquake - Non-flying monsters take 2 Melee Damage after each round.
League: Silver 3
Setup:
Summoner: Level 2 Kitty (featured Dragon Summoner)
Tank: Lv. 2 Harklaw
Secondary Tank: Lv.3 Pelacor Deceiver
Attackers And More Attackers: Lv. 3 Phantom Soldier, Lv. 2 Fallen Specter, Lv.3 Grim Reaper and Lv. 4 Octopider
In this match, the strategy was to maximize the buffs that Kitty provides. Due to these buffs and the forgiving mana cap, I was able to implement a combination of powerful archers and magic users from the Death Splinter. I have been having fun using Death Splinters as of late and combining them with Dragon makes a powerful team on high mana cap matches.
In the recap below I have taken moments wherein Kitty contributed to the match.
Facing up against a Dragon Earth team that also boasts powerful spell casters and archers it was evident that both of us are implementing the same strategy. It is a pseudo Mirror Match. Considering that there is an earthquake rule, the match is definitely a DPS race. The team that can produce higher damage outputs in less turns definitely wins it. A match suited for a summoner like....Kitty!!!
Speed Buff
Due to the nature of the match and being up against a team that has a Beefy and Flying Lv. 4 Nectar Queen in front combined with heavy hitters at the back. It is crucial that I have to strike first. In this scenario, the +2 speed buff provided by Kitty made it possible. Like in most cases in turn based games....Speed Is KING!!!
Striking first gives me a chance to immediately eliminate the opposing tank allowing me to inch closer to the back row monsters.
True Strike
Going first doesn't mean anything if you can'y hit the opposing monsters.
Facing up against monsters with flying and with decent speed is a challenge for both melee units and archers. Missing an attack as most of the players have experienced (yes I know, it is frustrating), can really be a problem and can even cost us a match. It is in this sense that I am confident facing up against flying creatures and wouldn't worry about misses since my units are equipped with "True Strike".
Healing
Things could have gone bad if not for my Harklaw (my MVP of a monster in this match). Based on the previous screen capture, he was basically down to 4 HP and was doing a lot of work. Lesser monsters could've been taken down by those damage combined with an Earthquake stipulation.
As good as the Harklaw is, is all thanks to Kitty's healing ability that it was able to withstand heavy damages and ended the match at full health. Surviving such an onslaught of attacks and environment is tough even for a monster like him.
Kitty maybe cute, but I supposed those getting their behinds kicked by her doesn't feel the same. 😎

Just can't resist not giving a shoutout to an awesome card:
I just wish I could own a Kitty someday. And yes, I don't really see her as cute and fun whenever I lose to a Kitty led team.
