When the Australian quintet released their fourth album on March 21, 1977, punk captured the imagination of young people and the media. Hard rock suffered a significant decline as some of its key references such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Uriah Heep lost their creativity. A second generation of bands led by Rainbow, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Scorpions and UFO kept the genre relevant, but AC/DC's fourth album was intended to be a launch for harder rock and harder guitar riffs. They brought oxygen to the most popular part. It became a rock destination on the planet and inspired the so-called "new wave of British heavy metal" led by artists such as Iron Maiden and Saxon.
Until then, AC/DC was still a small band. Despite their colorful influences, their first album, High Volt (1974), was only released in Australia. The second, TNT (1975), was the band's first attempt to reach a different audience, but until the international release of High Voltage in 1976, the band consisted of material from their first two albums. It became popular. reputation in Europe.
Their third album, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (1976), failed to attract the attention of the Atlantic label and was therefore not supported by a North American tour. Ironically, they were a popular band in their home country and soon became the biggest and most popular band in Australia.
Brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, backed by producers George Young (Sr.) and Harry Wanda, returned to the studio with the clear idea of recording a series of high-octane songs and multi-watt guitars. Singer Bon Scott quickly wrote the lyrics. This is the last album by bassist Mark Evans.
Let There Be Rock was the first turning point in AC/DC's career, as they managed to combine classic and original sounds with a powerful and fast-paced boogie blues, which left them with two indisputable classics. Bon Scott sang with a magical and committed vibe. To the Woman He's Dating, a wild and bluesy "Whole Lotta Rosie" combined with a great riff. Almost 40 minutes.
