Being in bear country is always amazing, as you never know what is going to happen until you are standing there and things just start to happen. This one afternoon I was sitting on a river bank of a salmon spawning river, which was full of pink salmon. This is great news, as lots of foods means great potential for bear sightings.

It wasn't long before a mother black bear with two young cubs came wandering down to the river. Mum sent the two youngsters up the tree to wait as she foraged on pink salmon after pink salmon. The two young cubs sat in the tree quietly looking around and periodically napping on a branch. This is quite a common behaviour, as mum knows her little ones are safe in the tree from predators and other male bears, whom are known to attack, kill and even at times eat bear cubs.
