So, lunch time here on the ship just after we completed a morning excursion at a place called Paradise Harbour. Shortly, after lunch started I decided to eat quickly and head up to the bridge, as I knew we would be crossing into an area that is great for frequently encountering orca.
About 5 minutes into me being in the bridge we found a pod of orca right in front of the vessel and before long they were right beside the ship, as we cruised across the Gerlache Strait. I was lucky enough to bring my camera with me and was able to snap a few photos before they descended down on their long dive. I truly love it when a pod of orca group up close to one another and surface together - that is exactly what I mean by expedition life, as you never know when an encounter like this will occur and I am beyond happy just to see let alone have my camera in hand to capture it.
