It is remarkable just how quickly these baby chicks go from an egg to an independent juvenile! Typically, we start to see eggs in November, with 2 eggs being looked after by both parents. Not too long after that in early to mid December chicks start to hatch, which are adorable to see. Lastly, along comes March and these baby chick penguins resemble an adult and at times are a tad more "husky" than their adult parents in appearance.

This guy below is a juvenile whom is now on their own to face the realities of its natural world. Not going to lie but this guy appears to be a little bit hefty and plump, which is perfect for a predator to pick off, as their ability to swim and recognise dangers such as predators in the water have not been mastered.
