It is quite the peaceful background and setting this photo. After a long few days exploring around Antarctica we were scheduled to begin our transit back to South America aka civilisation. However, as we transited through the Gerlache Strait, a common and incredible encounter occurred.
A large pod of type B orca cruising along socialising and hunting as they cruised along. It was sometime after 9pm when we encountered this pod so the lighting simply enhanced the already magical moment.
