I have been operating zodiac/boat style tours around Vancouver Island for almost a decade. These tours themselves are focused on marine mammals, specifically, Orca and Humpback whales. The amazing thing are the Pacific North West is that you can interact with Orca year round! the only thing at times can be snapping a photo during the tour can be difficult in certain situations.
For example, this trip the wind and waves were increasing quickly and so were the orca, as they began to pick up speed. So I was somehow driving the vessel with a camera in one hand pointing it with an extended arm towards the orca and taking photos. I had no idea what I was actually taking a photo of, as my priority is safety and comfort of those on board with me. Also, to make sure that I am keeping a responsible and safe distance from the orca at all times.
To be honest, I was shocked and stoked to look back at my photos later that afternoon and notice that somehow I snapped this shot.. one of my favourites from over the years and thousands of trips I have conducted.
