Humpback whales fluking in Antarctica

There is always something calming about interacting with humpback whales in Antarctica. The stillness and deafening silence of Antarctica accompanied by relaxing sound of the whales exhaling and inhaling is by all means of the definition, peaceful.

The only other moment that I find harmonious is the last inhale, followed by an arching of the whales back, the fluke arising out of the water and curtain of water falling off the back of the fluke prior to disappearing beneath the icy waters that surround the Antarctic peninsula.

“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in the water... its substance reaches everywhere; it touches the past and prepares the future.”

~ Lorne Eisley
