It is quite remarkable that after a while of encountering numerous Leopard seals around the Antarctic peninsula for a few years you can start to work out if the seal is a more mature individual or more on the younger side.
This mature female has definitely seen a few seasons, which was quite easy to pick based on how she napped on the ice and her little to no care about our presence one little bit. I just made sure to give the older girl her space so she could rest in a quiet area in Paradise Harbour.
