When you want to gain more respect from the people around you, there are multiple traits that will help in getting that. However, the foundation of all respect is built upon this 1 foundational block:

Action!

You probably know plenty of people who say they're gonna do X, Y and Z but never actually do it. People who are inconsistent in their actions. People that constantly complain about things, but never actually do anything about it. And yet, they often talk a great deal.

Words are easy to say, but your actions speak way louder!

However, before you can make anyone respect you, your actions and words need to be congruent! You need to actually BE the person you say that you are, and back it up with your own actions! Being flakey and unreliable makes people lose respect for you quicker than almost anything else!
