Yesterday, Saturday November 20th, a large demo against the Corona Measures of Government was held in Vienna.
For my English speaking friends: most of the material (videos) presented is in German, my apologies. I try to find some international reportages in English also.
I spent the better part of the afternoon following the over 4 hr Live Stream. Unfortunately, I cannot embed it here since embedding is not supported. The only thing I could share would be YouTube, and what you find on there is just the stuff from the mainstream media that almost immediately jumped on it in their known fashion of distorting the truth and denunciation of the participants as being a bunch of right-wing radicals.

Ruptly is live from Vienna on Saturday, November 20, as protesters opposed to coronavirus containment measures take to the streets of the Austrian capital to protest against the government's decision to impose a full nationwide lockdown starting Monday.
Austria introduced a lockdown for the unvaccinated on Monday, November 15, allowing only the vaccinated or those who have recovered from COVID-19 to enter establishments of non-essential nature. However, infections have continued to rise dramatically, especially in the provinces of Salzburg and Upper Austria, inducing the government to impose the measures on all citizens.
The lockdown will start from Monday and be evaluated after 10 days.
Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said on Friday there would also be a legal requirement to get vaccinated against COVID-19 from February 1, 2022.
Europe is currently experiencing a fourth wave of the coronavirus, registering record high numbers of new infections daily.
YouTube is full of videos now with the narrative of the mainstream media painting this as a right-wing out-of-control violent demo - and yes, there were some isolated incidences on the fringes that appear to be instigated by outsiders. Certainly fodder for the media to paint the opposition as a bunch of hooligans. But if you follow my live stream on my website, you will see that this was a orderly protest and the organizers repeatedly urging participants to follow the rules, which require the wearing of masks when distances cannot be maintained, as obviously is the case at an event like this. Free masks were handed out to those that did not have any. Of course the media, wherever you look, never fails to mention that the organisers are a "far right opposition party" and the protesters are all followers of the far right movements, conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, corona-deniers etc - when in fact a good portion of the gathered protesters were also those that had been vaccinated, but their conviction is that it is and should always be an individuals choice. Several have said so to the interviewers on the various news teams.

Thousands of protesters gathered in Vienna on Saturday after the Austrian government announced a nationwide lockdown beginning Monday to contain the country's skyrocketing coronavirus infections.
The far-right opposition Freedom Party was among those who have called for the protest and vowed to combat the new restrictions.
The Austrian lockdown will start early Monday. Initially it will last for 10 days and then it be reevaluated. At most it will last for 20 days, officials said. Most stores will close and cultural events will be canceled. People will be able to leave their homes only for certain specific reasons, including buying groceries, going to the doctor or exercising.
It says above: Initially it will last for 10 days - December 12th - but from my own personal observations, this is just another one of a series of lies from the Government - in fact the lockdown in 2 of the provinces, Upper Austria and Salzburg will already last longer than that, until December 17th, and that is official! It was hinted by the Health Minister Mückstein that it could go longer, after evaluation of the situation.
The nationwide general lockdown will start on Monday, to be reviewed after the first ten days and to last for “a maximum” of 20 days for vaccinated people. This means it will end on December 13th if no further changes are made.
However, the lockdown for unvaccinated people is set to continue after the end of the general lockdown if judged necessary.
.... if judged necessary .... there you have it. Don't count on Christmas! And that, in a nutshell, is the main reason for the protests! You have a Government that flies by the seat of their pants and making knee-jerk decisions. In my previous blog on Hive I addressed this already in much detail:

There is a tab top right for English, but what you get is a propaganda page that lets you choose several languages directed to foreigners and tourists, and does not contain the same detailed information as the original German.

It is good that factual news reporting does still exist, which unfortunately is found less and less of in the Mainstream Media (which a friend dubbed as "MediaDirnen" - "Media Whores").
